Salt Lake City

Located in the in western United States, Salt Lake City is known as the “Crossroads of the West.” It is both the capital and the largest city in the state of Utah. Salt Lake’s location in the center of the Western United States makes it an ideal location for businesses. Several major companies began or later opened branches in the city and its surrounding areas.

 

Living Accommodations

There are many apartments, rooms and houses available to rent in the Salt Lake area. The average cost for a one-bedroom apartment in the Salt Lake area is around $550 a month, or around $700 for a two-bedroom apartment. Many students like to live with roommates and split the costs of housing.

Transportation

Salt Lake has an excellent public transportation system. Bus Routes are available throughout the city and run on a regular basis. Bus stops are located throughout the Salt Lake area, including one within a short walking distance of American ESL Academy.

Students with a driver’s license from their country may drive in Utah for up to six months. Students who choose to drive during their state need to have car insurance. 

 

Sports and Recreation

Salt Lake is well known for its professional sports. The city is home to the Utah Jazz NBA basketball team and also Major League Soccer’s Real Salt Lake. Salt Lake offers visitors a variety of activities to choose from. The city was put on the world map in 2002 when it hosted the Winter Olympics. Some of the most famous ski resorts are only a 30-minute drive from the city. Many popular attractions are just a half-a-day’s drive from Salt Lake. Including Las Vegas, Yellowstone National Park, Canyonlands National Park, and Zions National Park.
