Course Information

American ESL Academy offers non-English speakers the opportunity to learn English in order to help them expand both their professional and personal opportunities.

Courses are divided into three levels: beginning, intermediate and advanced. All course levels focus on the four main aspects of language acquisition:  speaking, understanding, reading and writing. Students will also have the opportunity to learn about American culture and customs.

Beginning Course
Beginning

The beginning course teaches students with limited or no English knowledge, basic communication and conversational skills. It emphasizes correct pronunciation and focuses on catching and correcting mistakes commonly made by beginning students.

The purpose of the beginning course is to help students create a strong foundation of basic English skills that can be built upon through continued study and practice.

Intermediate Course
Intermediate

The intermediate course builds upon students’ beginning skills by teaching more complex English concepts. It emphasizes improving skills already developed, while introducing more complicated grammar and vocabulary.

The purpose of the intermediate course is to help students increase their English proficiency to a point where they can understand and converse with little help from others.

Advanced Course
Advanced

The advance course introduces students to the more difficult aspects of English. It emphasizes perfecting grammar, conversational skills, reading comprehension, and writing skills.

The purpose of the advanced course is to help students obtain a proficient level in English high enough to where they can interact independently with native English speakers and enroll in higher-education courses, such as a university, community college, vocational school, etc.
